Official Rules of play
Rule 1 THE 4 'QUARTER' QUESTIONS
R1.1 The competition features 4 questions every week (minimum). The aim of the game is to predict an answer as
close to the question posed as possible. You will win the question and the available points on offer if your answer
is nearer than that of your opponents.
R1.2 There will be 7 points on offer for EACH OF THE 4 QUESTIONS and each 7 point question carries certain
bonus points. In addition to winning the quarter and obtaining a 7 point 'touchdown' you will receive an extra 3
point bonus offer and the further 7 point bonus offer depending on how close your prediction is to the final
outcome.
R1.3 You will receive a 3 point bonus for getting within 10% of the answer or a 7 point bonus for getting within 1%
of, or spot on the mark with your answer. Same rules apply to receiving bonus points for getting close to the
score even despite losing the question. You will receive bonus points, but not the initial 7 points for winning the
question.
R1.4 In the event of a tied question (both players posting the same score), both players will receive the same
points with added bonus points if achieved.
R1.5 All 4 questions carry the same bonus points. All 4 questions are 7 point questions unless otherwise stated.
7 points for the quarter win
3 points for being within 10% - win or lose
7 points for being within 1% or exact - win or lose
R1.6 Neither player will score ANY points in a quarter if BOTH players predictions are MORE than 100% away from
the actual score. The quarter will be tied 0-0. (e.g. both players post predictions of 40, but the answer is 100.
Therefore both players are more than 100% away from the final score (150% away). In this instance, no player
scores ANY points for that quarter; 0-0).
The HAIL-MARY Question
R1.6 Some weekly questions may feature a Hail-Mary question which will be an additional question to the 4
quarter questions posed. This question will involve a bullseye requirement. Any team hitting the Hail-Mary will
receive an additional 7 points, but the Hail Mary outcome only comes into effect if the TRAILING TEAM in the tie
could overturn a loss into a tie or a win by hitting the bullseye.
R1.7 If the result of the match-up following the additional Hail-Mary points results in a tie, the match is settled
through normal tied game rules (See rule 2.2)
R1.8 In the event of both teams in a match-up hitting the Hail-Mary bullseye, no points will be added to either
team.
R1.9 If the team leading the match-up after 4 quarters is the only team to hit the Hail-Mary, no points will be
added.
The ONSIDE-KICK Question
R1.10 Some weekly questions may feature an Onside-Kick question which will be an additional question to the 4
quarter questions posed. Any team trailing by 7 points or LESS by the end of the 4 quarter questions will have the
chance to gain last gasp points from an onside kick. In ALL cases, the inside-kick question is a 'STEPPED' question.
This means that in order to progress to the next stage of the question you MUST correctly predict the preceeding
step of the question.
The onside kick can be posed in 2 different formats:
Format 1: This will be a three part question. You must answer the 1st part of the question to simply obtain
possession of the ball. This gives you NO POINTS. Answer the 2nd part of the question to receive 3 bonus points
and answer the 3rd part to turn 3 points into 7 points. If you have answered part 1 INCORRECTLY your possession
ends. At any point of the stepped question where you incorrectly predict the outcome, your possession ends and
you receive the points up to the correct predictions. You will receive no further points from the onside kick even if
you have answered subsequent parts of the question correctly.
Format 2: This will be a four part question. This is exactly the same in construction to Format 1, but has an extra
step allowing the team playing the onside kick the ability to turn 7 points into 8 with a 2 point conversion. If this 8
point format has been posed in the given week R1.10 now allows teams trailing by 8 points of LESS the
opportunity of winning the game.
In most cases the onside kick question will be in the form of predicting the winner of a pre-selected game and
whether the total points are under/over the official points line from the bet365 betting line. 3 points for predicting
one of the two outcomes: 7 points for predicting both.
R1.11 If the result of the match-up following the additional Hail-Mary/Onside Kick points results in a tie, the match
is settled through normal tied game rules (See rule 2.2)
R1.12 No single week will feature BOTH a Hail-Mary question AND an Onside-Kick question. Some weeks will
feature NEITHER. Commissioner decision is final.
Rule 2. HOMEFIELD ADVANTAGE
R2.1 To make playing at home more of an advantage, 'Tactic Cards' are available to teams who are at home (Home
teams only). Each home team has the option to play either a 'Defence' or an 'Offence' card. Along with their
predictions sent they choose to use one of these options on any one of the quarter predictions. Playing the '
Defence' halves their opponents points for that quarter. Playing the 'Offence' doubles their own score for that
quarter prediction. You need to consider therefore which to use based on whether you think you're confident of
your prediction (Offence) or not confident at all and think your opponent will beat you (Defence)!
R2.2 In the event of a tied match (scores level at the end of the 4th quarter) the match is settled by adding all the 4
quarter predictions together and the winner is the one nearest to the total of all the answers. They will receive an
extra 3 points in OVERTIME. (In the unlikely event of this still being a tie then each teams Armoury cards will
determine who has won - The highest scoring team from all the armoury cards will determine the ties winner.)
R2.3 Only 1 tactics card can be played in each teams home game.
Rule 3. ARMOURY CARDS
R3.1 Each team has 5 armoury cards at their disposal each week. These are determined every year within the OFL
Draft conducted in the off-season. Each players 5 armoury cards will consist of 3 offence cards and 2 defence
cards.
R3.2 Each week each player selects 2 ARMOURY CARDS to put into play against their opponent in their match up.
They must pick 1 offence card and 1 defence card.
R3.3 Bonus points are awarded subject to the performance of the armoury cards teams performance in the NFL
on the same weekend. Breakdown of additional points allocation can be found within the OFL Draft section of this
website.
R3.4 Armoury cards are only in use through the regular 17 week season. No armoury cards within the play-offs.
R3.5 There are no restrictions to how many times an armoury card can be used through the regular season, but
they can only be used once in each week.
R3.6 NFL games played BEFORE Sunday fixtures each week DO NOT COUNT. (This includes any games played
between Thursday and Saturday) unless expressly stated otherwise. Only games played on Sunday and Monday
count toward the use of Armoury Cards.
R3.6 Armoury Card selections cannot be changed once the deadline has passed.
Rule 4. AVERAGES
R4.1 Unfortunately there may be a time when you are absolutely unable to post your answers for the weekly
game. This has been contentious in the past as some people have asked for averages more than once. I
understand that sometimes it is impossible to avoid being away, on holiday, broadband connection issues etc.
Each player is allowed only 1 'averages' week in a season as an emergency. The questions are posted on a
Wednesday each week so you have plenty of time to send your answers to me. YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL
THE LAST MINUTE! If you have A GENUINE REASON that prevents you from playing the week then let me know
ASAP and I will enter your week as average scores of all predictions, but you are allowed to do this once only!
Averages are not allowed in the play-offs or the final 3 weeks of the regular season.
R4.2 When asking for averages, you forfeit your ability to use any tactics cards AND Armoury cards.
R4.3 If you fail to send your predictions in the week prior to closing date and you have NOT yet requested
averages, averages will be played for you on your behalf. You will not be able to invoke the use of averages again
for the rest of the season. You will forfeit the use of tactics cards and armoury cards (see R4.4). Your opponent
receives a 7 point start (see R4.5)
R4.4 In the event of a week including a 'Hail Mary' or 'Onside Kick' question, a request for averages will forfeit the
ability to compete in this question, unless the players informs me of their answer when asking for averages.
R4.5 If you request averages, YOUR OPPONENT WILL RECEIVE A 7 POINT START IN THE 1st QUARTER
R4.6 Home teams requesting averages receive the averages of all other home teams in that week. Road teams
requesting averages receive the averages of all other road teams.
R4.7 'Averages' are deemed to be the collective average of all the predictions correctly sent by all the players in
that week.
Rule 5. WEEKLY FIXTURES THREAD AND RESULTS
R5.1 Results will be posted as soon as they are available and updated by me (Commissioner) or an identified
deputy. Please be patient it takes a lot of work!
R5.2 The weekly fixtures and upcoming weeks thread will be posted up on a WEDNESDAY each week on a
new thread. That gives plenty of time to get your answers to me. Try not to leave it until the last minute on a
Sunday as I have loads to do each week once predictions received. It only takes 10 minutes to put together your
predictions and PM them to me.

home field advantage. Your predictions must also include your 2 ARMOURY CARD selections.
R6.2 No changes can be made to predictions after the deadline time.
R6.3 All stats and scores used in the game will be obtained primarily from the official NFL website. www.nfl.com. If

ONLY 1 AVERAGE POST ALLOWED IN THE SEASON!
R6.5 As Commissioner and administrator of the comp my decision is FINAL!!
R6.6 As soon as ALL headcoaches predictions are received by the Commissioner, the predictions will be published
on the OLBG website (or hosting website).
R6.7 Published predictions will only be amended following publication of incorrect data to that submitted by a
headcoach.
R6.8 In the event of my absence, there will be a named deputy to assume overall responsibility and they will act as
Commissioner of these rules.
Rule 7. PRIZE MONEY

by OLBG. The total prize money distribution is as follows:
